CRUCIAL TERMS OF FASHION

Fast fashion is the term used to describe clothing designs that move quickly from the catwalk to stores to meet new trends. The collections are often based on designs presented at Fashion Week events. Fast fashion allows mainstream consumers to purchase trendy clothing at an affordable price.

Fast fashion became common because of cheaper clothing, an increase in the appetite for fashionable clothing, and the increase in purchasing power on the part of consumers. Because of all this, fast fashion is challenging new fashion lines that are introduced on a seasonal basis by traditional fashion houses. In fact, it's not uncommon for fast-fashion retailers to introduce new products multiple times in one week to stay on trend

WHAT IS MASS MARKET ?

It refers to :-

•    The market for goods that are produced in large quantities.

•    Ready to wear garments in mass.

•    Cheap material of fabrics creatively used to produce affordable fashion.

•    Uses simple production techniques therefore to sell at cheaper rates.

•    Consists of fashion available for both — brands and street.

Fast fashion is good to explore trendy outfits but it is encouraging the throw away attitude. That's why we also call it disposable fashion because the clothing is cheaply made and can be change quickly. Because of this throw away attitude fast fashion is contributing to the pollution and it started affecting our environment. This fast fashion trend has also been criticized on the point of intellectual property right. Some designers are alleging that their designs has been illegally mass produced by retailers.
